Suzanne Altamare, World Champion and Grand Master Sand Sculptor, has been sculpting sand for a living since 1982.  She sculpts all over the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, and Belgium.  Known in the world-wide sand community as a soft sand specialist, she carves compacted sand as well.

Suzanne's television credits include:

  • "Sand Blasters I" (2006), "Sand Blasters II" (2007), and "Sand Blasters III"
(scheduled to air in March, 2008) on The Travel Channel

  • "Sand for Now" (2006), a documentary on Bravo in Canada, with showings
    at several film festivals

  • "Magnificent Obsessions" (2007), a Direct TV production shot at the
American Championships on Fort Myers Beach

  • "Florida Faces and Places" (2007), on PBS

Print credits include:
  • Numerous newspaper articles, UPI and AP photos

  • Several appearances in "Southern Living Magazine"

  • Many local news broadcasts including FOX news, CBS, NBC, ABC
    and NBC Sports National

Suzanne sculpted on large sand projects in Belgium in 2003, 2004, and 2005, appearing on a Belgian travel show filmed in Zeebrugge in 2003.

Suzanne creates sand sculptures at corporate events, supervises logo sculptures at contests, and serves as a consultant at sand events and competitions.  She is a performance artist who enjoys talking to the media and the public as she works.  Her sculptures are limited only by the imagination; some of her favorite subjects include antique motorcycles, cars, sea life, sea shells, flowers, animals, and logos.  She travels most of the year from April through November and resides in Daytona.  She credits her late husband, Marc Altamare, for her sand sculpting knowledge.

On a personal note, the entire Fitzpatrick Family would like to express a special thanks to Suzanne for all her help over the years. We would not hold this event with out her. We love you Suzanne!
