You may recall last years 2 day performance when Sean created a 5 ton replica of the Statue of Liberty's Torch draped with the American flag. This year he will be creating an even larger 12 ton sculpture based on the theme Summer Sizzles at Salisbury Beach In addition to this amazing sand sculpture display Fitzy Snowman will be trucking extra special sculpting sand to the Salisbury Center Mall to hold the first ever off beach family sand sculpting and corporate challenge competition. Similar rides were and still are found in other amusement parks but the first prototype was built and operated in Salisbury Beach. Most people that have ever been on a Dodgem ride know them by another name - bumper cars. The original bumper cars were built at a time when cars, and even more so an electric car, was a real novelty. The Dodgem name was first used because the cars were hard to steer. It was thought the greater challenge was to avoid other cars in the Dodgem arena, since it was assumed most people would pay to enjoy the novelty of being able to drive an electric car.
